Namibia, the country in Southern Africa, is one of the most popular
destinations for self-driving tourists, that is why local government had to
think of something to make their journeys more comfortable. For this, a new
devise was recently introduced in the country, called TRN (Toirism Radio
Namibia). The devise uses Global Positioning System (GPS) technology and is
installed into a vehicle’s power source. Thanks to this, travelers can get lots
of useful information, like information about the area they are driving through
or about the state of the roads. Some other interesting facts are also given,
such as how to get to the nearest travel offices, hotels, drugstores and
internet-cafes.
The radio also keeps travelers entertained and
covers the whole country, from southern Zambia to northern Botswana. It
was developed in the neighbouring South Africa and is already very popular in
Namibia: up to 1000 TRNs will be functioning in the country by early January
2008.
