One of the most trendy and popular ski resorts in
Austria, Ischgl, is being renovated at the moment. First, by next season its
existing six-seater Fimbabahn cable car will be replaced with a new modern one,
the eight-seater car with heated seats. This will help improve the roads
capacity, which will now reach up to 2800 passengers per hour. A lift on the
cable car in section one will now take approximately 6 minutes whereas in
section two it will take 8 minutes.
According to the plan, the route will be
fully floodlighted so that the lift could operate at night. Built in 1998,
Fimbabahn base station will remain at the same place, whereas ski-pass office will move
to the new building next to it, which has a forecourt, and open sides. Plus
to this, the second section of the Tougnete gondola will be replaced with a
chair lift. This will also result in increase in carrying capacity.
