The new head of Vietnam National Administration of
Tourism, Hoang Tuan Anh, is going to increase the number of tourists coming to
the country. First, he suggests canceling the value added tax for all the goods
bought by foreign tourists, hire international companies to promote Vietnam’s
tourist, waive visas for the citizens coming from the other countries and
develop caravan tourism. He also wants to
change the nowadays slogan for the country’s tourism industry: “Vietnam – the
hidden charm” into “Vietnam – the hidden charms”. Hoang Tuan Anh says that the
thing that prevents tourism in Vietnam from rapid development is the lack of
qualified specialists, that is why raising the level of tourism specialists’
skills will be among the main goals. Moreover, plans include the increase in
number of rooms in Vietnamese hotels by 2010, which will then reach 170
thousand. According to the prognosis made by the Globalysis Ltd international
consulting company, 2007 will be the year when Vietnamese tourism will be
developing at highest pace.
